Duo Schriefl / Wegscheider

“Ignoring any existing borders turns here into pure pleasure and serious joy.” Music Austria

A comfortable sound from the Alpine region with jazz tradition or is it an attack on the usual listening with Alpine horn and accordion? A new jazz style from Tyrol and the Alpine region?

This is a marching Band with bizarre arrangements of Alpine melodies, letting the Jazz piano player sound like being in Midtown while allowing him to add strange objects to his playing. Many of these pieces have been written in the musician’s homeland. They used clichés of the Alpine language and music and connected them with the playing manner of popular jazz and avant-garde. Because of the many instrumentations with Alpine horn, tube, accordion, trumpet, horns, piano and vocals, it seems for the audience as if several bands are on stage at the same time. At times comfortable like a cow munching an Edelweiss and then again like a New Orleans Marching Band with a bizarre arrangement of Alpine melodies. Or a Jazz pianist in Midtown who operates his piano with strange articles. Due to the melting of genres a style is created which could only be presented on an earthquake proof area.
